I moved to Hong Kong with my family in 1995 where I was first exposed to a multi-cultural environment and this gave me the opportunity to learn more about different cultures, new languages and meet friends from different ethnicities. This adjustment also gave me the chance to grow holistically as a person and helped me better interact with other people. Growing up in a big family, I have always looked up to my parents whom I consider my best teachers. They have taught me and my siblings the importance of education and how we should never stop learning each and every day.
After I completed my Bachelors Degree of Media Production from a University, I am a firm believer that effective communication is a vital life skill. I have always engaged in activities that helped develop my confidence and communication skills as I was growing up.
Though my earlier professional career started off in the sales and marketing industry, I have always been passionate about teaching, communicating and public speaking. In the past, I did my part time job to tutor kids who were interested in learning the English language, improve their speaking abilities and develop their confidence through public speaking. Besides, I did volunteer work and provided assistance to teachers to care for kids who were mentally and physically incapacitated. I was also given the opportunity to teach Sunday school classes to young women.
I am so grateful to have been given this privilege to be a part of Maple Tree Education Centre and I look forward to providing our students an interactive, fun and friendly learning environment.
I was born and educated in UK with a Bachelor of Mathematics degree and TEFL Certificate. After my studies, I worked as a professional career coach for four years where I taught students of diverse background and mixed abilities.
My vision is to inspire those I meet to fulfil their potentials and achieve their goals. I believe everyone deserves an equal chance especially with children where their values and confidence are built from a young age.
For me, being in the educational field is more than just a job. Teaching and being able to make a positive impact in each other’s life is what I stand by. Therefore, as an English teacher, I bring huge passion, love and commitment to nurture each child individually.
In my free time, I like to travel, meet new people and learn new things to broaden my horizon!
I am originally from Australia. I hold a Bachelor of Education in English Language Education and a certificate in TESOL. Apart from being an English teacher for more than ten years, I am also an experienced drama teacher, playwright, dance choreographer and an author of children storybooks.
My love for the creative and performing arts has taken me on many different and amazing journeys along my career and has shaped me into becoming a more innovative and diversified teacher. I bring together my experience in different fields to create an all-rounded learning experience in the classroom.
It is my goal to ignite creativity, imagination and a love for the English language in my students through fun and interactive activities. I encourage my students to express their feelings, thoughts, and ideas in creative ways through reading, speaking, writing and drama.
My students love coming to English class because there is never a dull lesson. I make sure they have FUN while they are also LEARNING something interesting. I want my students to grow up with a desire for learning and a passion that will drive them to wherever their dreams may be.
I am originally from Portland, Oregon, in the United States. I have earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science and a TEFL certificate. Additionally, I have experience as a private English tutor and a Native English Teacher.
I am also a proud father of a primary school-aged child whom I have taught English to since he was an infant. Over the years, I have seen the improvements in his reading and writing skills and it is extremely gratifying. This is one of the reasons why I wanted to become a Native English Teacher in the first place, so that I can share that same kind of joy with other parents.
During class, I like to teach in a fun and interactive way so that students can have an enjoyable experience. Learning through a communicative approach will help to solidify their English skills as they continue to improve every day. As a parent, I know the importance of education, and every parent wants to see their child be successful. Thus, I want to be that light to inspire, motivate, and build confidence in the kids as well as creating a positive learning environment where they can thrive.
I graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Communication with 4 years of teaching experience. I started my career as an Education Consultant in Singapore since 2011 and became a Lecturer by 2015. Teaching has always been my passion. Being with children and interacting with them is my constant joy. Yet arts also was a part of me as I was a member of our national dance company back in college. The frequent international travel has enabled me to see and experience the different cultures, languages, and uniqueness of each country. These travels molded me to become more creative and assertive as a teacher.
Through my years of teaching, I have learned that education should not be constrained to the four walls of the classroom. Each learner has their own strengths and it is our responsibility to make them aware of it. As an English teacher, I will ensure that each class will not just be educational but enjoyable and adaptable in real life. My aim is to inspire my students to never stop learning and reach their full potential to be an independent and confident individual.
I am excited to teach and apply my knowledge, enthusiasm, and passion for teaching with Maple Tree Education Centre Hong Kong.
I was born and raised in London, UK, before studying Politics and International Relations at University York. After University I went in to retail while deciding what I wanted to do. I wanted work that was exciting and meaningful and, being inspired by my parents who are both teachers themselves, I decided to pursue a career in education. I came out here to Hong Kong where I am thrilled to be able to throw myself in to somewhere that is out of my comfort zone and soak in a culture that is new to me.
I have already spent some time and gained some valuable experience in education as a private tutor whilst out here. I enjoy thinking of new ways to make lessons fun and engaging for my students as I feel that children learn best when they are enjoying what they’re doing. I’ve found that building up a child’s confidence with using English to express their own ideas and feelings can have many different positive affects for their academic and social skills; seeing them grow in this way is an incomparably rewarding experience.
I am looking forward to joining the team at Maple Tree and helping more children discover their potential.
I spent the majority of my life living in the outskirts of London, where I was born. In university, I studied environmental science to find out more about
how we need to take care of the planet for our future generations to come.
I then went into teaching music and giving personal care to an autistic boy for several years and providing personal care for the elderly with disabilities for 3 years. These careers increased my compassion, empathy and patience with all kinds of people and age groups. I have always loved to work with people, help them and care for them in any way I can in order to encourage them and improve their lives. I am enjoying expanding the knowledge and enthusiasm for children learning the English language through
enjoyable and entertaining educational dialogues, practices, games and other
I bring strong rapport, clear communication, excitement and joy to classes, which will bring the students to where they want to be academically. All students have a unique way of learning, each lesson has an exciting puzzleto solve for me, finding the clearest way possible to help students comprehend the material and have enjoyable experiences along the way.
I was born in Australia and my family moved to Hong Kong when I was six. Raised by parents of two different cultures, I was deeply fascinated by the dynamic atmosphere of Hong Kong since I was a child.
Teaching is no “piece of cake”. Simply feeding knowledge into children is not teaching. As teachers, we guide any learners to explore and discover a specific field, especially children. With the correct guidance, I have no doubt that they will have the courage, confidence and skills to explore the world on their own.
With over a year of experience of tutoring of over 700 students at different institutions,
I am capable of identifying learners’ linguistic needs and teaching accordingly. After acquiring CertTESOL, I am equipped with better methodologies and skills for learners from kindergarten to secondary students. I aim at enlightening children, including primary students and secondary ones with authentic methods in a contemporary context.
